Marc Penn, M.D., Ph.D., FACC, Summa Physicians Inc. – Cardiology, director of research for the Summa Health Cardiovascular Institute, was in Spain in May to present late-breaking clinical trial data on heart failure research that he and his colleagues from across the country recently completed. News of his address was covered in multiple national media outlets and in publications such as The Plain Dealer and MDLinx.
Jane Soposky, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, interim director, behavioral health, recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Center for Health Affairs and its workforce initiative, NEONI for her commitment to the field of nursing. NEONI works to develop, implement and sustain healthcare workforce collaborations that empower, strength and grow the northeast Ohio healthcare workforce.
Jane was recognized for her achievement on April 30 at an event where nearly 200 guests gathered to honor her and celebrate nursing excellence.
At the Research Scholarship Day at NEOMED, one of our residents, Tracy McNamara, D.O., took first place on her oral presentation about our Special Care Team project: Improving Outcomes for Patients with Special Care Needs.
Troy Bishop, M.D., FACP has received the Evelyn V. Hess, M.D., MACP Master Teacher Award of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Physicians for 2015. This prestigious award recognizes Master Teachers of Medicine who have been active in teaching medical students, residents, and/or peers. Dr. Bishop currently serves as program director, Traditional Residency; clerkship director, internal medicine; associate professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, and practices with Summa Physicians Inc. – Internal Medicine. He will receive his award at a recognition event on Friday, October 23 in Columbus, Ohio.
Lisa Derrick, M.D., a third year emergency medicine resident at Summa Akron City Hospital, was recognized as the innaugural recipient of the Resident Patient Safety Award at the Summa Health Employee Recognition Celebration.
