Summa In the News

Summa Health has been the proud host to a group of Akron Public School students for eight weeks this summer. The pilot internship program provided some great healthcare experience and learning opportunities for the teens who attend either Akron North High School or the “STEM” School, where students study science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The August 11 Akron Beacon Journal included an extensive feature story on the Summa program and looked at the students taking part in a recent teamwork exercise led by Summa leadership development coach Patrick Johnson.

The appointment of Lorraine Weaver Washington as Summa Health’s new senior vice president for Human Resources was covered in The Plain Dealer.

Crain’s Cleveland Business examined the increase in health clinics being housed within drug stores and other retail outlets. The article included a reference to Summa Health’s former partnership with Giant Eagle.

A story earlier this summer in the Akron Beacon Journal on University of Akron football coach Todd Stroud and his battle with a rare blood disorder included a mention of the care he has received at the Cooper Cancer Care under the guidance of Dr. Sameer Mahesh.
